Property pdates include Mini-Split heat pump AC/heat units in each bedroom and common area! Spring 2021 mini-renovation includes an updated kitchen with stainless appliances, 18" dishwasher, open area between kitchen and living room to enhance lake views, new flooring, and a reno in the main bathroom (vanity, toilet, larger shower, and new flooring). ***This is a NONSMOKING property. Smoking is not allowed in the cottage or anywhere on the property outside; we ask that you and your guests respect this.
Enjoy the large screened porch (36' x 12') or step out the door to enjoy the beach and clear waters of Sebago. Appreciate the wildlife; a perfect retreat for bird watchers, fishing, or simply putting your feet up to relax in this peaceful location, listening to the loons in the early morning hours, or catching a glimpse of the eagles flying by daily.
The summer season (Mid-June to Labor Day) requires a Sat to Sat rental. Outside those dates, please feel free to message me with questions regarding the availability and duration of stay. Please note out-of-state guests are required to ensure they comply with the State of Maine health requirements. Our cleaners use CDC-approved cleaning products, and the cottage is thoroughly cleaned between renters.
The space:
Summer nights here on Sebago Lake are like few others. Breezes off the water, loons calling out, and a sky full of stars. Our cottage (and back cabin) are open late spring into early fall; the cottage is heated, and spring/fall nights are cool! For those who love warm summer nights, or even the brilliance of Spring or Fall in Maine and the spectacular foliage -- this destination is perfect from late Spring through mid-October. Bring a warm sweatshirt and enjoy the cooler seasons!
The cottage has been meticulously maintained over the years and has a master bedroom with a comfortable king-size bed and lots of storage. The master bedroom windows open to the screened porch water view, and there's nothing like falling asleep to clean Sebago air, or watching the sunrise from the comfort of the bed. There is a common sitting area with recliners, a couch, internet access, a 50” smart TV, a large dining room table on the porch, 1.5 bathrooms (one bath has a shower, sink, and toilet, and the other is a small sink and toilet only) and kitchen area. A second bedroom contains twin beds, and the third bedroom has a queen-size bed, small desk for remote work, and windows that open to the water view via the screened porch. The porch has a comfortable full-size futon for additional sleeping area, if needed (full-size spring mattress). All linens are high-end. The kitchen includes a K-Cafe coffee and cappuccino/latte maker... there is truly no reason to leave the solace of Sebago unless you choose to. One-level living makes it easy for guests of all ages. The large screened porch offers a tranquil place to sit, eat meals, play games, work or nap. We have Internet/WiFi and a 50” smart TV with HULU, Amazon and Netflix access (just log in with your account), and cable TV. Due to COVID-19, the back studio cottage is also available for additional sleep space ($1000 weekly fee, plus $125 cleaning fee) ONLY to front cottage renters out of concerns for social distancing. The studio cabin has a screened porch with a view of Sebago, has a small bunk room, and a queen-size bed with a small bath, sitting area, small fridge, sink, and grill (details: air bnb. com/h/sebagolakestudiocabin). Summer season (Jun 21-Sept 4) requires a Sat to Sat rental. Our location is semi-remote and very private.
Waterfront:
One mooring is available for renters, if desired. We have two docks; one will be installed new in 2021 on the right side of the beach, and a second, older dock is positioned to the far left and bifurcates the owner's area. The new dock will form a T at the end (see example photos) with space for sitting where you can enjoy your coffee at sunrise or a cocktail at sunset. If you're bringing a boat, the end of the dock is ideal for drop-off and pick-up of passengers. There are two kayaks available for your use if desired. Please bring your own life jackets.
*** Please Note *** The Owners are reserving the far left side of the beach for personal access, an area divided by a dock on wheels. There's over 100' of frontage, so plenty of room for renters to have privacy while allowing us to enjoy the water simultaneously.
Guest access
The maximum capacity of the cottage is ideally six; there is a full-size pullout couch on the screened-in porch for an additional sleeping area. The beach, swim, and dock areas and the fire pit are private for cottage renters. The owners live next door and will access the beach and swimming at times--always with a focus on the privacy of our guests. We will swim only in the owner's area, and utilize the new dock only when accessing our boat.

We will reach out prior to your rental to ensure your wishes regarding:
* Using our bedding vs yours (We request you bring your own pillows and/or bedding, if possible.)
* Any questions you may have prior to your arrival.
Parking is for multiple cars, but please, no more than four. If you have a motorboat, it must be launched from the town boat launch, and we'll provide a mooring upon request.
Mid-September to October weather can be wonderfully crisp. Swimming might be less enticing, although the water stays warm through September. Canoes and kayaks can be used year-round, and there's plenty to do in the area for sightseeing, hiking, and of course, Maine country fairs. Fishing options abound. We can guide you to local sights, entertainment, and recreation, as well as Portland activities, restaurants, and landmarks about 30-40 minutes away.
Trash receptacles are provided in the separate garage on the backlot, and we appreciate the respectful disposal of your waste, recyclables, and returnable bottles and cans. This also helps prevent the attraction of wildlife (like raccoons, foxes, or skunks) foraging for scraps.
** PLEASE NOTE:
Dogs are allowed (we love them!); an additional cleaning fee of $80 per week is required to cover the costs of extra labor for cleaning. There are approximately 60+ stairs down to the beach (please see the photos) and relatively steep banking--our family (from infant to adults) has grown up here for generations without incident, but if you have small children or have difficulty navigating stairs, please view all photos prior to booking this property to ensure it is an appropriate fit for you. We consider it a great way to increase our step count for the day! Also, note there is no lifeguard on duty.
A Cuisinart grill is included for those who love easy-to-prepare meals--you are on vacation, after all! It includes a side burner and cast iron griddle, so you never have to use the kitchen stove/oven if you don't want to. Please use only cast iron cookware on the outside grill.
The kitchen includes the latest K-Cafe coffee and cappuccino/late maker, allowing for a simple cup of coffee (bring your own K-cups) or a yummy late with froth just the way you like it. We try to provide all the comforts of home, and then some: a microwave, toaster oven, full refrigerator, dishwasher, dishes, pots, and pans, etc.
The high banking of this property prohibits anything other than kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards being lowered down the banking, or carefully carried down the stairs.
The furniture on the porch has been part of the family for generations--we ask that you lower the exterior canvas window covers if rain is in the forecast to protect the solid pine furniture. The canvas window covers have "windows" in the center, allowing you to appreciate the beauty of Sebago, even in the most frightful weather conditions from the beautiful screened porch.
The fireplace in the cottage is non-functioning and cannot be used under any circumstances both for safety and insurance purposes. You will find battery-operated candles in the fireplace for your enjoyment. Please do not remove them.
A gas fire pit is provided outside. Please turn the unit off when not in use and do not leave the gas fire burning unattended.
If you're requesting multiple weeks, a special rate may be available (although not as likely during peak June-August weeks), so please message us to ask.
We survey guests at the end of every stay; we want to know if there's something/anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable, memorable, or perfect. If you have feedback or need assistance, we live next door and are available via text or messaging for questions or assistance 24x7, although we will never invade your privacy.
We love this amazing spot on Sebago Lake and hope you will, too!
